About this tool
Large photos slow down websites and bounce off email attachment limits. This compressor re-encodes your image at the quality you choose and shows the new file size before you download it, so you can find the point where the picture still looks right but weighs far less.
The work happens in your browser. Your image is never sent to our server, which also means there is no upload to wait for. Exported files do not keep the original EXIF data, so details such as camera model and GPS location are removed.
Questions people ask
Will compression make my photo look worse?
Lower quality settings remove detail that is hard to see, but very low values can cause blocky areas. Start around 75 to 80 percent and compare the preview before downloading.
Can I compress a PNG?
PNG is lossless, so its size depends on the image itself rather than a quality setting. For the biggest saving, export a PNG photo as WebP or JPG instead.
Is there a size limit?
Images up to 40 MB are accepted. Very large images can still run out of memory on older phones, in which case we tell you before anything is lost.
