About this tool

Some forms, design tools and apps insist on PNG files, and PNG is a good working format when you plan to edit an image several times, because saving a PNG again never adds new compression damage. This converter turns your JPG or JPEG into a PNG of the same size.

Two things are worth knowing. A PNG cannot recover detail the JPG compression already removed, so the picture looks the same rather than better, and a PNG of a photo is usually much larger than the JPG. Converting also does not make the background transparent: the PNG keeps the JPG's solid background. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Questions people ask

Will converting to PNG improve the quality?
No. PNG stores the image without further loss, but it cannot restore detail the JPG already discarded.
Can I make the background transparent?
Not with this converter. JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the original solid background. Removing a background needs an editor that cuts out the subject.
Is JPEG the same as JPG?
Yes. .jpg and .jpeg are two file endings for the same format, and both are accepted.
