About this tool

Save an image from many websites and you get a .webp file. WebP keeps pages fast, but plenty of photo apps, printing services, email clients and upload forms still expect a JPG. This converter redraws your WebP as a standard JPG that opens everywhere.

Choose the JPG quality (85 to 90 percent is a good starting point for photos) and the colour that fills any transparent areas, because JPG cannot store transparency. Everything happens in your browser: the image is never uploaded, and the JPG does not carry over hidden metadata from the original.

Questions people ask

Why do websites give me WebP files?
WebP images are usually smaller than JPGs of similar quality, so many sites serve them to load faster. When you save one, you get the WebP file the site sent.
Will I lose quality?
Both formats are usually lossy, so converting can add a little softness. At 85 to 90 percent quality the difference is rarely visible. Convert to PNG instead if you need a lossless copy.
What happens to an animated WebP?
Only the first frame is converted, because a JPG is always a still image.
