About this tool
PNG is the safe choice when a WebP image has a transparent background, such as a logo, sticker or product cut-out, or when you plan to edit it further. PNG is lossless, so the converted file keeps every pixel exactly as your browser decoded it, and see-through areas stay see-through.
The trade-off is size: a photo saved as PNG is often several times larger than the WebP. If the image is a photo and you only need something that opens everywhere, a JPG is usually the better choice. The conversion runs in your browser, so the image is never uploaded.
Questions people ask
Does PNG keep the transparent background?
Yes. PNG supports full transparency, so see-through and semi-transparent areas are kept exactly.
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the WebP?
WebP compresses photos far more efficiently. PNG stores every pixel without loss, which suits graphics and screenshots but makes photos large.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Your browser decodes the WebP and writes the PNG on your device, so the image never reaches our server.
