About this tool

Sometimes you only need the sound from a video: a recorded talk, a lesson, a voice message saved as video, or a song from a clip you filmed yourself. This converter takes the first audio track from your MP4, drops the picture and saves the sound as an MP3 that plays on any phone, car stereo or music player.

The conversion runs on our server with FFmpeg after you agree to the upload, because browsers cannot write MP3 files. Videos can be up to 50 MB and 15 minutes long, which suits phone clips and short recordings. Files are private and deleted within 30 minutes. Only convert videos you made or have permission to use.

Questions people ask

Is my video uploaded?
Yes. Browsers cannot make MP3 files on their own, so the MP4 is uploaded over HTTPS after you agree. It is stored privately and deleted within 30 minutes, or straight away when you press Delete my files now.
What if my video is bigger than 50 MB?
Server conversions are limited to 50 MB to keep the service free. Trim the clip first, or export it at a lower resolution: the picture, not the sound, is what makes MP4 files large.
Can I convert videos from YouTube or other websites?
This tool converts files from your own device and does not download anything from websites. Only use videos you made or have the right to use.
Which video files work?
MP4 and WebM videos work. iPhone .mov files are not accepted yet.
