About this tool

Need to edit web content in Word, send it for review or keep a copy offline? Upload an .html file or paste HTML, and you get a .docx document with real Word headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and links.

Images built into the HTML are included. Images linked by address are left out, because the converter never downloads anything from the internet; the page tells you how many were skipped. Scripts and styles are dropped, but a whole saved web page brings its menus and footer text along, so pasting only the part you need gives the cleanest document. The conversion runs on our server with Pandoc after you agree to the upload, and nothing is kept afterwards.

Questions people ask

Why are some images missing?
Only images built into the HTML are used. The converter never fetches anything from the internet or from other files, which keeps the service safe. Save the images and add them in Word afterwards.
Does it keep the website styling?
No. CSS colours, fonts and layout are not applied. The Word document uses standard styles, and HTML headings map to Word's Heading styles.
Can I convert a page by its address?
No. Save the page from your browser, or copy its HTML, and upload or paste that.
Good to know

Getting a clean Word file from HTML

Use proper heading tags

Only h1 to h6 tags become Word headings. Text that is merely styled to look big stays ordinary text.

Paste only the content

Menus, sidebars and footers come across too, so copy just the part of the page you need.

Add missing images afterwards

Images linked by address are left out and their descriptions stay in the text, so you know where to insert them in Word.
